This is a one day course where you’ll learn the theory and practical skills to perform first aid until the medical professionals take over in the Forestry industry.
This course has been developed to comply with the Forestry Commission +F as per the First Aid at Work – Forestry Commission Policy and in consultation with Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA).
- Syllabus
The First Aid Training Specialists offer you the opportunity to adapt the course to meet your workplace needs.
A range of subjects that the standard syllabus includes are:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Resuscitation
- Burns
- Assessment of the situation
- Anatomy
- Choking
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Minor injuries
- Epilepsy
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Bleeding control
- Shock
- Catastrophic bleeds
- Crush injuries
- Hyperthermia
- Hypothermia
- Lyme disease
- Certification:
Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper at the end of the day. A three year Emergency First Aid at Work will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.
The HSE strongly recommend to all workplaces that successful candidates take annual refresher of three hours each year to maintain the qualification.
- Duration
The course consists of a minimum of seven contact hours consisting of practical and theoretical activities.
- Numbers
Up to 12 candidates can attend and must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
